You’re making a game?!
Yes! We’ve teamed up with The New Art Gallery Walsall and The Space to create a traditional third-person puzzle adventure with a bit of a twist. Here’s a look at the early prototype that started it all.
While the location and character have since changed, the visual style largely hasn’t (the visual style is not the twist, if you’re wondering). Those of you with a soft spot for the classic Resident Evil and Silent Hill games will probably spot some clear inspirations. Don’t worry – no zombies in this one. Unless you want zombies, in which case I apologise profusely.
Through this blog, you can stay updated on the development of the game, looking into both the technical and creative sides of development. We’ll also share ways for you to get involved in the process and help shape the game. Exciting stuff! While the full reveal is coming soon, we’re also working on a demo for later this year that’ll showcase one of the game’s more interesting mechanics.
But don’t go just yet – there’s more to this site than just a dev blog!
What is this site, anyway?
Originally, this was only intended to be a development blog and nothing more, but as we got stuck in, we realized it could be something much more meaningful.
While we’ll still document our game’s development, we’ve expanded the scope of the blog to include articles that help young creatives like YOU break into the games and creative industries (apologies if you’re not actually a young creative and feel like we’re making assumptions).
Whether you’re curious about concept art, design techniques, or career advice – or even how to make your own game – we’ll cover it. We’ll also take a closer look at some standout games, exploring what makes them great, and chat with artists and developers to share their best tips for aspiring game makers.
Though this site is primarily aimed at young creatives in the West Midlands, everyone is welcome. Whether you’re just starting out or already working on your own creative projects, we hope this blog will be of help to you.
We also give talks! If you’re running a gaming related college or university course in the West Midlands area and need someone who can talk about game art, design or the industry for hours at a time, give us a nudge.
Next up is a post on game industry positions for visual artists – so stay tuned! Or don’t. I’m not your boss. I’d prefer it if you did, though.
Regardless, none of this would be possible without the incredible support of the organizations that helped get this project off the ground, to whom we are incredibly thankful.
The New Art Gallery, Walsall

The New Art Gallery is a cultural gem in the heart of Walsall, home to the fantastic Garman Ryan collection and a constant stream of exciting exhibitions. 2025 marks their 25th anniversary, and they’ve got some excellent events lined up to celebrate. Our game wouldn’t be happening without them!
Check out their website – or, even better, pay them a visit.
The Space

The Space is a social enterprise focused on supporting creative individuals and organizations across the UK. Their mission is to help the arts, culture, and heritage sectors engage audiences using digital and broadcast content.
They’ve supported a wide array of innovative projects, and their help has been crucial in developing both the game and this blog. Take a look at their website and some of the amazing projects they’ve helped bring to life!
So, what’s next?
Hey, thanks for reading this far! Stick around and we’ll share what we’re learning throughout the game development process, offer some practical tips, and maybe even help you avoid a few of the mistakes we’re almost certainly going to make, for we are but mere mortals.
Naturally, the priority for our little team right now is to build an entire game, so expect updates every two to four weeks (making games is hard work, okay?!). If you have questions, suggestions, or just want to connect, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for reading! And, as a wise Italian plumber once said – “Let’s-a-go!” (Please don’t sue us, Nintendo.)
